Shanghai, Red Bull's response

During qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix, Martin Whitmarsh, team principal of McLaren, had thrown a wrench into the pond by affirming with certainty that the Red Bull RB6 had a system allowing them to adapt their ride height depending on the fuel loading (see elsewhere). Since then, the controversy has run out of steam, the regulations in this area have been clarified and the RB6 is today clearly compliant with these regulations.

In Shanghai, in this new context, the Red Bulls-Renault showed themselves to be the fastest again, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber finishing in the first two places in qualifying. A great proof of performance for Fabrice Lom, head of Renault engines at Red Bull Racing. “ This double in qualifying is a confirmation and a response to all our detractors », declares the French engineer to AUTOhebdo.fr.

« We talked a lot about these stories of suspensions that were bannedHe says. Many people thought that Red Bull would go much slower after the rules were clarified. I think that today we are providing a good response: we were perfectly compliant before the regulations were clarified because we have not changed anything and we are still the fastest. »
