Shanghai has often smiled on Romain Grosjean

After two Grands Prix this season, the Lotus team has still not scored any points. A double retirement in Australia, and a more than turbulent race for Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado had not allowed the pilots toenstone to realize and confirm the potential of the E23 Hybrid. The Frenchman hopes to take advantage of the return of F1 in China to finally enter the top 10.

« I scored my first points in Shanghai in 2012, then I also got into the points in 2013. Hopefully this is a good omen, explains the former GP2 champion. We are in a better position than the last time we came to this track. » The Frenchman will be able to benefit in particular from developments on his car, powered by the Power Unit Mercedes. “We have new bodywork at the front and rear, and a package update for Shanghai, focused on improving downforce. » specifies technical director Nick Chester.

Lotus will also run in free practice 1, the British Jolyon Palmer, reigning GP2 champion, recruited as third driver for 2015.
