Silverstone: Great disillusionment for Vettel

Sebastian Vettel failed to gain the advantage over Lewis Hamilton at the start of the British Grand Prix. The German followed the pole sitter in second place until the driver Mercedes saw his left rear tire go to shreds on the seventh lap. The pilot Red Bull then took control of the race before retiring on the 40th lap following a broken gearbox, giving victory to Nico Rosberg.

The German can only be disappointed with this mechanical failure which allows Fernando Alonso to return to 21 points in the Championship. “It’s obviously quite disappointing to give up a few laps from the finish. We have a gearbox problem. I think the fifth gear stuck and damaged the rest of the transmission, it was no longer possible to continue. It’s a shame because we were well placed and a victory is always nice here. We will have to come back next year with the same objective. Fortunately, the next event is happening soon (next week at the Nürburgring). »
