Silverstone changes its route after the incidents of the last GP

Despite the rapid succession of the British Grands Prix and the 70th Anniversary, Silverstone made several adjustments to its circuit following the incidents that occurred last Sunday.

First of all, a 36-meter wall of tires was installed at the end of the escape route at turn 11 (Maggotts), i.e. at the precise location where Daniil Kvyat hit violently after being the victim of a spectacular exit from the track.

A salutary initiative when we know that the Russian, who had become a helpless passenger in his AT01 due to a puncture at high speed, had hit a wall, fortunately without seriousness.

Furthermore, the inside curb of turn 14 was lengthened to widen the exit of turn 13. This curb had been moved closer before the British GP but the drivers tended to bite off the track while maintaining their usual trajectory.

These visits to the shoulders could have led to the appearance of multiple cuts noted on the tires and contributed to the 3 punctures suffered by the passengers. Mercedes de Lewis Hamilton et Valtteri Bottas, as well as McLaren de Carlos Sainz
