Silverstone – Vettel feared missing qualifying

Sebastian Vettel almost put an end to the series of poles of Lewis Hamilton at the British GP, but the driver Ferrari finally lost by 44 thousandths against the other quadruple world champion.

However, the German was not in the best conditions to participate in qualifying at Silverstone since he suffered from neck pain which worried him during FP3.

“I wasn’t sure this morning if I could do the qualifying with my neck, confided Sebastian Vettel. It still wasn't the most pleasant session. It wasn't dramatic, the qualifying went well. I'm not worried about the race because we will go slower than in qualifying. »

Sebastian Vettel nevertheless remains optimistic for the race even if the Scuderia Ferrari driver has not won since 2009.

“I only missed half a tenth. The time is practically the same, but not the ranking. I was satisfied with my first attempt in Q3, but I lost a little time on the straights without really knowing why. It’s still positive for the race and I’m not worried about my chances.”, he added.

Kimi Räikkönen also showed great potential by taking third position ahead of the Mercedes W09 from Valtteri Bottas failing less than a tenth from pole.

“I think I had what I needed to be faster, but I locked the front wheels in turn 16. I'm sure there were positions to be found, but it didn't happen. We make do with what we have. It was close, but 3rd place isn’t too bad.”, commented the 2007 world champion.
