The final practice session for the British GP at Silverstone was marked by the violent exit of Brendon Hartley.

Silverstone – Violent off-track for Hartley in FP3

EL3 of the British GP was neutralized following a violent accident Brendon Hartley (Toro Rosso). The New Zealander saw the left front suspension of his STR13 break while he was at full speed. The winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2017 went off the track and hit a tire wall, narrowly missing rolling into the gravel trap.

Despite the impact, Brendon Hartley emerged from his wreck unscathed and quickly emerged from the medical center. On the other hand, the Toro Rosso STR13 seems to have suffered too much damage to be able to compete in qualifying. His teammate Pierre Gasly was called back to the garage as a safety precaution.

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) finished with the best time in practice. With a lap completed in 1'26''722, the local driver improved by eight tenths the previous reference achieved the day before by Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari). The German was further behind in this session, ranking behind his teammate Kimi Räikkönen who also preceded Valtteri Bottas, but the Ferrari Finn finished less than a tenth behind the Briton.

The Red Bull follow the two top teams with Max Verstappen completing the Top 5 ahead Daniel Ricciardo. Charles Leclerc (Sauber) set a promising 7th time ahead of the Haas VF18 of Kevin Magnussen et Romain Grosjean who needed this session to make up for some of the time lost the day before. Marcus Ericsson (Sauber) completes the Top 10 ahead of Force IndiaEsteban Ocon and Sergio Pérez grouped into a tenth.

The McLaren are behind with Fernando Alonso only 13th and Stoffel Vandoorne 18th. THE Renault don't seem to be celebrating either Nico Hulkenberg et Carlos Sainz Jr respectively 14th and 15th in front of the Williams de Lance stroll and Sergey Sirotkin.
