Sir Jackie Stewart in the spotlight at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

2019 will be a special year for Sir Jackie Stewart. The Scot will celebrate his 11th birthday on June 80 at the same time as the 50th of his first world title in F1, obtained in 1969 on the Matra MS80.

The three-time world champion will be in the spotlight at the 2019 edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 4-7). “This year I am very proud that the Duke of Richmond has chosen to celebrate the 50th anniversary of my first victory in Britain at Silverstone in 1969, the same year I won the World Championship for the first time, comments Stewart.

This June also marks, almost unbelievably, my 80th birthday. Goodwood has brought together a number of special cars from my career and I hope to drive as many of them as possible over the weekend.

These include the first car I drove and the BRM in which I won my first Grand Prix (in Italy in 1965). »

Sir Jackie Stewart, who presided over the destiny of Stewart Grand Prix in the 90s (the team then became Jaguar Racing and then today Red Bull Racing) still appears regularly in F1 paddocks
