It had been feared for months. In the hot seat before the season even began, Jack Doohan only had time to do six Grands Prix before being replaced by Alpine. According to our information, Franco Colapinto will take over the Australian's seat at the next Grand Prix, in Imola (May 16-18). A decision that was unfortunately expected for several weeks, as the rookie was under so much pressure and the results were not coming. Worse still: Jack Doohan has distinguished himself with his clashes and accidents, notably the one in Japan during Free Practice or more recently, his retirement in Miami after hitting Liam Lawson.

The Gold Coast native will therefore be replaced by Franco Colapinto, ex-pilot Williams who competed in nine Grands Prix in 2024, replacing Logan sargeantThe Argentinian had been recruited by Alpine this winter as a reserve pilot, bringing with him a significant financial windfall and incredible popular support in South America. It was only a matter of time before we saw him again on board a Formula 1 : nevertheless, after only six Grand Prix, do you understand the choice ofAlpine to replace Jack Doohan with Franco Colapinto? Feel free to give your opinion in the comments of this article!

But they are useless at Alpine/Renault, disastrous management, driver recruitment (see Piastri file...) and taking old "Flavio glories" from the 90s to lead a team. Take Colin Chapmann or Ken Tyrrell. You might avoid the mistakes of the V8 Gordini endurance of 1968 and 1969. Please take note.

Isn't the right question: why? Alpine Did Doohan sign? As you point out in the article, he's been in the hot seat from the beginning...

Briatore had a doubt: Colapinto's money or Piquet's great comeback...

A choice that is mainly financial because Colapinto is very well financially supported... and this will allow him to pay for his crashes because he had several million dollars worth of them last year at Williams!

I've been expecting it since the beginning of 2025, but I thought that The King of Cheaters would have landed his protégé in Miami to please the Argentinian's many sponsors, Miami being a very popular holiday destination for the very wealthy South Americans, Argentinians in particular!

Not very convincing from a certain point of view Doohan even if he could have been correct but Colapinto already has a little experience and sponsors which are interesting according to Briatore.
