Soucek negotiates his entry into F1

Andy Soucek participated in the development tests of the new car which will be used in Formula 2 in 2010 but still hopes to find a steering wheel in F1 for the coming season. F2 champion last year, the Spaniard won a test on the track with Williams F1 during the rookie tests in Jerez, at the beginning of December, and was convincing.

« For the moment, the doors are not closed, attests Andy Soucek to Spanish radio EFE. The discussions continue and have opened new doors. » Indeed, if the Spaniard seemed close to Williams, due to his F1 test, the Grove team preferred him Valtteri Bottas as a reserve pilot, while Nico Hulkenberg and Rubens Barrichello are the starting drivers. “The two remaining seats are with Campos and USF1 but other possibilities are tempting, in Formula 1. »

Indeed, in addition to the two seats remaining available for a regular driver position, other opportunities exist for the third driver position. Andy Soucek hopes to benefit from such an opportunity in 2010. “ Being a racing driver attracts all drivers, because we want to be on the starting grids, adds the F2 champion. But being a reserve driver, which is better than being a test driver, would help me and give me enough time to prepare for 2011 with a year of experience in Formula 1. »
