Spa-Francorchamps pulls out all the stops before hosting F1

Since the arrival of Liberty Media at the head of the category in 2016, the F1 is expanding on all levels. So much so that the historic circuits that we have been familiar with for so many years no longer have their napkin ring automatically renewed. This obviously does not escape the Belgian Grand Prix and Spa-Francorchamps, which this year have decided to give a grand welcome to F1 and the nearly 360 people expected next weekend (from 000 to August 26, 28).

New trophy and shows guaranteed throughout the weekend

To meet the demands of Liberty Media, which is working to make F1 a permanent spectacle on and off the track, Spa-Francorchamps has given itself the means this year. With shows permanently planned on the sidelines of the Grand Prix, nearly 35 DJs will take turns on a stage set up specially for the occasion, while new giant screens will appear here and there around the circuit, for nothing miss this show.

We also know that F1 owners are fans of VIP experiences of all kinds, and it is not Belgium which will be the exception in 2022. “dinner in the sky” with an unobstructed view of the circuit is also planned, while the Brabançonne, the Belgian anthem, will be performed by Anna Winkin, before the start of the Grand Prix.

The Belgian Grand Prix trophy will look great this year, as organizers have worked on a new concept. The famous trophy is made of wood belonging to an ancestral oak and takes the shape of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Inside, we find encrusted water, obviously coming from Eau Rouge, as well as some pieces of asphalt belonging to Raidillon. A real success.

The spectators of 2021 not forgotten, major works either

We actually remember the disastrous previous edition of the Belgian Grand Prix, which ultimately did not really take place, due to the bad weather which hit the circuit and the region. This year, those forgotten from last year will be entitled to a very special day on Thursday, including exclusive interviews with personalities revolving around F1, but above all, a competition will be organized to visit the paddocks.

In addition, Spa-Francorchamps took care this year to renew its FIA and FIM approvals, which are essential for holding an event of this magnitude. Work has been carried out almost everywhere on the circuit, with widened clearance zones and the presence of numerous gravel traps to replace the tarmac. The stand above the Raidillon has also not escaped this, since it will be able to accommodate nearly 4 people, who will this time be well sheltered.

Although the Belgian Grand Prix is still not sure about its future, while its contract with the FOM expires at the end of the season, it is a gargantuan and precise organization which has been deployed in recent weeks . If this should not have much influence on the outcome of the case, Spa-Francorchamps shows, once again, that it has nothing to envy of the newcomers to F1.

Not sure that this will change things... alas! The days of Paul Ricard, Spa and even Monaco are threatened by mega-dollar tracks!! Clearly, F1 has become a (big) money machine under the Yankee leadership of Liberty Media before being a sport even if all its actors talk about it by saying "sport"
