Stadler: F1 is an option for Audi

Rupert Stadler admitted that he was considering the idea of hiring Audi in F1. If the German brand has been cited for several years in rumors evoking the arrival of new manufacturers in the premier single-seater discipline, speculation was reinforced when the firm with the rings recruited Stefano Domenicali, former director of la Team Ferrari, to study the possibility of engagement. The Italian indicated that all the lights were green (see: AUTOhebdo n°2011).

“You have to leave doors open in life”, Rupert Sadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG, told the British magazine auto Express. “We are already busy with sports projects where we have seen success. But for F1, let's wait. It is an option for Audi, but maybe not at the moment. But it remains an option. »

The departure of Ferdinand Piëch from the Volkswagen Group of which Audi is a part, has relaunched the debates since the Austrian businessman had always opposed the brand's involvement in F1.
