Stefano Domenicali pleads for an orientation towards young people

We finally saw Stefano Domenicali again. The former Team Principal of the Team Ferrari, fired before the Chinese Grand Prix this season and replaced by his Italian compatriot Marco Mattiacci, had remained very discreet since. It is in Munich in Germany, where the FIA is currently holding its World Council on Sport, that the Transalpine made its return to the public scene. He was participating in a conference on the development of motorsport. For the former boss of the Italian team, the F1 must turn to the younger generations.

“We're talking about something that connects different people of different ages and different cultures. You have older people who just want to go watch the races and enjoy it, and then the younger people who want to have a different experience, explains the Italian. The most important thing is the development of the sport for the younger generations. Young people are not attracted to new technologies just by the word, they must be connected by technology to sport. They must be involved. There are young people who want to be the pilot but through connectivity, it is about taking part. This is important for those who want to be part of the show. We also need to appeal to people who are purely sports enthusiasts and who want to compete with the professional or the champion through games or interactive experiences. One thing I've learned from looking at the American market, in different disciplines, is that fans want to compete against the most important player in basketball or whatever. Fans want to be the protagonist. If we can provide that, our entire movement will be aligned with our fans. »

Stefano Domenicali also admitted that he was not yet thinking about his future, taking advantage of a break to spend time with his family.
