Romain Grosjean does not intend to conclude his adventure at Haas F1 Team away from the track. The Frenchman, miraculous after his terrible first lap crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix last Sunday, was treated for burns to his hands at the Bahrain Defense Force Hospital, and is expected to be released from the facility on Tuesday, as announced by his team.
If the former Lotus driver will not compete in the Sakhir event this Sunday, replaced by the Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi, his wish would be to race his last Grand Prix with the American team in Abu Dhabi, on December 13.
Asked this morning about the state of health of Romain Grosjean during a video conference with representatives of the media, Gunther Steiner, general manager of the Haas team, was reassuring, even enthusiastic.
“I spoke to him on the phone earlier, he is doing very well, describes the person responsible. We didn't talk about the accident itself, just how he was doing. Physically, he is recovering well and his mind is strong. Doctors continue to treat his hands.
He might stay an extra night in the hospital, not because of complications, just because it's a safer environment and it's easier to treat these injuries
What is certain is that he wants to race in Abu Dhabi. I told him to rest and that we will talk about it next Monday. No rush. He is resting and, at the start of next week, we will decide together, but he wants to run. He is determined "
