Steiner: Toro Rosso should be ahead of Haas

Haas F1 Team only has a few weeks left before the start of winter testing which will begin on Monday February 22 in Barcelona (Spain). The American team has ambitious objectives for its first season in the discipline based on the significant financial support provided by its director Gene Haas.

Günther Steiner, Team Principal of Haas F1 Team, is nevertheless cautious about his team's claims for the 2016 season. “We hope to be somewhere in the middle of the pack”, underlined the Italian on the official F1 website. “It's always difficult to predict the performance of other teams before testing, but I think that a team as established as Toro Rosso should be in front of us, even if they have an engine (Ferrari) aged one year. »

The reduction in winter testing, with only eight test days this year compared to 12 in previous seasons, has meant that Haas F1 Team has carried out significant preparation work. “Preparing the team was one of our main challenges. For example, we have been carrying out pit stop training since December in order to be ready for Australia (March 20 in Melbourne)”, added Günther Steiner.
