Steiner wants to avoid internal wars at Haas

Haas F1 Team is more interested in team results than those of its drivers. This is what emerges from the comments of Team Principal Günther Steiner made in the BT newspaper. The Team Principal of the American team underlines the importance of obtaining a good position in the Manufacturers' Championship, the performance of its cars not allowing it to compete for the title among the Drivers.

“It’s something that’s going on in their heads, explained the Italian. Neither appreciates not being the fastest on the team. Romain and Kevin motivate each other. They just need to understand that being second on the team is okay. It's not a tragedy if they are not the benchmark every weekend. You can win the war without winning every battle. »

Last year, Kevin Magnussen finished 9th in the Championship with 56 points scored compared to 37 for the former GP2 champion who finished in 14th position.

Haas F1 Team aims to beat its direct opponents, Renault Sport F1 Team in the lead, in order to obtain more gains at the end of the season.

“The goal for the 2019 season is to finish 4th in the Constructors’ Championship, confirmed Günther Steiner. I think it's achievable. The data from our engineers is promising, but I don't know what the others got. It remains difficult to compare with last year because the technical regulations have changed quite a bit. »
