Stroll: “Adversity came pretty quickly”

Lance stroll had a lot to do for his first season in F1. Despite his title won last year in F3 European Championship, the presence of the 19-year-old Canadian caused a lot of discussion due to the significant financial support provided by his father Lawrence.

With the colors Williams, Lance Stroll had a difficult start, retiring from his first three Grands Prix. He will have to wait for his seventh start during his national event in Montreal to get his first points (9th), a result which will precede his highlight of the season with a podium obtained at the Azerbaijan GP in Baku.

“I had some difficult times during the winter tests, but I was prepared for them, commented Lance Stroll. It was quite hard not to see the finish in my first three races. It doesn't matter if it's because of an error or a mechanical problem. I knew I was going to face adversity at some point in my first season. It happened quite quickly in my season, but I tried to keep my level and not give up. »

Lance Stroll thus ended his first season in F1 in 12th place in the Championship, three points behind his teammate Felipe Massa who will be replaced by another driver that won't be confirmed until 2018.

“It will be a great advantage to return to the circuits once again, said the Canadian. I'm going to practice qualifying during the winter break, but I would say that there is room for improvement in all areas. »
