Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) will start on pole for the second consecutive time. He will have to monitor the flight of his teammate Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) at the start. Dominated by the Silver Arrows, Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari, 3rd) intends to close the gap in race pace.

The fight for 6th place in the Manufacturers' standings will be fierce; Toro Rosso (6e) Renault (7e) and Haas (8th) are only separated by six points. In this fight, Renault has taken a first step forward by placing Nico Hulkenberg in 7th place on the starting grid.

The first Frenchman is Esteban Ocon (Force India, 9th). Romain Grosjean (Haas) will start from 16th place, ahead of his compatriot Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso, 17th).
