Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) starts on pole in front of the Ferrari de Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen and the Red Bulls of Daniel Ricciardo et Max Verstappen. Romain Grosjean (Haas) will start from 6th place, while Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) is only 8th between the Force India of Sergio Pérez and Esteban Ocon following his penalty. Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren-Honda) is 13th on the grid behind his teammate Fernando Alonso.
The Austrian GP is threatened by rain, with the weather forecast announcing the risk of showers for this afternoon in Spielberg.
