For the third time in his career F1, Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) will start from pole position on the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo. The Finn will see in his mirrors two red single-seaters, those of Sebastian Vettel (2nd) and Kimi Räikkönen (3rd). Victim of an accident at the start of qualifying, Lewis Hamilton decided to start from the pit lane after changing various mechanical elements (engine, gearbox, turbo).

You have to go down to the fifth line to find the first Frenchman, Esteban Ocon (Force India, 10th). Romain Grosjean (Haas) will start 11th. Both Renault will have the points in line of sight (Nico Hulkenberg 7th, Carlos Sainz Jr 8e).

Several drivers received penalties: Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull, 14th), Lance stroll (Williams, 16th), Marcus Ericsson (Sauber, 17th), Brendon Hartley (Toro Rosso, 18th) and Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso, 19th).
