The second round of the 2022 season Formula 1 takes place on the Corniche circuit in Jeddah this Sunday March 27. Only 19 cars will start the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this Sunday as Mick Schumacher (Haas), violently went off the track the day before during the second round of qualifying, will not take part in the race.

Sergio Pérez will start from pole position for the first time in his career. The Mexican actually recorded the best time in Q3 this Saturday during his 215th qualifying session in the discipline. On this occasion, he became the 103rd pole-sitter in F1 history and the one who waited the longest before experiencing this joy. The pilot Red Bull will be accompanied on the front line by the championship leader, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).

The first Frenchman will occupy fifth place with Esteban Ocon. With this good position on the grid, the driver Alpine hopes to win the podium that escaped him in the final moments last year against the Mercedes de Valtteri Bottas. The Norman will also be accompanied on this third row by the Finn's replacement at Brackley, George Russell. The Briton tried to limit the damage from a difficult Saturday for the Silver Arrows.

The second Mercedes, that of Lewis Hamilton, is in fact only in sixteenth place. An incredible disappointment for the seven-time world champion who had not been eliminated in Q1 due to a lack of performance since the 2009 British Grand Prix! Faced with this situation, the Englishman could even decide to change everything and leave the pit lane. Whatever his position, Hamilton will set a new record as soon as the lights go out as he will become the driver with the most starts (180) for the same team.

The McLaren are not much better off with Lando Norris in 11th place as first representative. In this second part of the grid, his teammate Daniel Ricciardo was forced to retreat. The Australian was penalized three places for hindering Esteban Ocon during a fast lap in Q2. 12th in qualifying, he fell to 15th place, but recovered one following Schumacher's withdrawal. Nicholas latifi (Williams), who made a mistake, brings up the rear of this provisional grid for the second Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Yuki tsunoda (Alpha Tauri), remained in his box due to a technical problem during testing, withdrew due to a new mechanical problem.
