After a well-deserved four-week summer break, the Formula 1 makes his comeback and heads to Zandvoort for the Dutch GP, fifteenth round of the 2024 season. Lando Norris starts on pole in front of the local hero, Max Verstappen, and his teammate Oscar piastri.

Norris defeats Verstappen on his land and wins at Zandvoort

72/72 – 🏁 LANDO NORRIS WINS THE NETHERLANDS GRAND PRIX! Second victory this season for the Briton who, despite a failed start, flew through this race against Max Verstappen, with a gap of 23 seconds at the finish!

The Dutchman must be content with 2nd place at home, his first defeat at Zandvoort since 2021! Charles Leclerc resists Oscar Piastri and takes the podium! Pierre Gasly takes 9th place and two additional points!

70/72 – Only three laps left for Lando Norris, very close to a 2nd victory in Formula 1 after his first success in Miami!

68/72 - The Mercedes are no longer really coming back to Sergio Pérez: four laps from the goal, the Silver Arrows are still 7″5 behind the Mexican. The Soft tire gamble did not work for George Russell.

66/72 – Oscar Piastri yo-yos with Charles Leclerc with a gap fluctuating around a second between the two drivers.

64/72 – 🆙 Fernando Alonso exceeds Nico Hulkenberg and enters the Top 10.

64/72 – ⏱️ 1'13″878: this is the new best lap in the race signed Lewis Hamilton, who improves his own record. The Briton is closing within two seconds of his teammate.

63/72 : 🔎 With ten laps to go, Lando Norris is heading towards a second victory with almost 2 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen!

61/72 – 🇫🇷🆙 And once again, Pierre Gasly gets the better of Nico Hülkenberg from the outside of the first corner! The Frenchman is 9th and should equal the best result ofAlpine this season !

59/72 – The Australian regains some rhythm and finally returns to the Monegasque’s DRS zone.

57/72 – Oscar Piastri fails to catch up with Charles Leclerc and finds himself in trouble with his tires which he describes as “not exceptional, but it will go until the end”

55/72 – Pit stop for George Russell, who takes the risk of losing his 5th place to finish the race on Soft tires. He comes out 7th just ahead of Lewis Hamilton.

55/72 – After overtaking the backmarkers, Oscar Piastri lost a few lengths on Charles Leclerc: the gap increased to 1″6 between the two drivers.

53/72 – 🔢 As things currently stand, Lando Norris would take 7 points from Max Verstappen and return to 71 points in the Drivers’ championship… and McLaren would amount to 31 points of Red Bull.

52/72 – ⏱️ Best lap in the race for Lewis Hamilton in 1'13″883! The Briton has 20 laps left to catch up with Sergio Pérez: the gap is 25 seconds.

51/72 – Leclerc and Piastri arrive late in their battle, which prevents the Australian from getting closer to the Monegasque.

49/72 – Second pit stop for Lewis Hamilton who, with 23 seconds ahead of Nico Hülkenberg, benefits from a stop without consequences in the standings. He remains 8th and is wearing Soft tires.

47/72 – 🆙 It’s finally happening Carlos Sainz who delays his braking as much as possible at the first corner to overtake Sergio Pérez.

47/72 - An experienced management Ferrari who attacks with Sainz, a Ferrari who defends with Leclerc: the Monegasque is put under pressure from Oscar Piastri, who returned to the DRS zone for 3rd place.

45/72 – Battle also for 6th place between Sergio Pérez and Carlos Sainz: the Mexican is resisting the Spaniard's attacks for the moment.

43/72 – Oscar Piastri is on fire: the Australian takes 8 tenths from Charles Leclerc and closes the gap to 1″7 behind the Monegasque.

41/72 – 🇫🇷🆙 Magnificent overtaking by Pierre Gasly who imitates Oscar Piastri and overtakes Alexander albon from the outside of the first turn! The Frenchman returns to the Top 10. Kevin Magnussen lost four positions in a single straight, and has just returned to the pits for the first time.

40/72 – 🆙 With fresher tires, Oscar Piastri takes the outside on George Russell and moves up to 4th place!

40/72 – Lando Norris impresses: the gap passes above 10 seconds with Max Verstappen helpless.

39/72 – ⚠️ The sanction has fallen: 5 seconds penalty for Lance stroll for speeding in the pits.

38/72 – No additional action ultimately on the incident with Pierre Gasly, therefore no penalty. On the other hand, an investigation was opened for a speeding violation for Lance Stroll in the pit lane.

37/72 – ⚠️ The stewards noted an incident during the stop of Pierre Gasly, who almost knocked down a mechanic when leaving the pits. An investigation has just been opened.

36/72 – 🔎 The halfway point has just been reached, here is the ranking on lap 36!

34/72 – Oscar Piastri is the last of the leaders to stop and leaves in 5th place with the Hard tires. All drivers, except Magnussen, made their stop.

33/72 – After having resisted 33 laps with his Mediums, Pierre Gasly went through the pits and came out 12th on Hard tires. In front of him, Albon and Magnussen have tires that are around twenty laps old.

32/72 – ⏱️ Lap record for Lando Norris in 1'14″391! The Briton now has a 6″1 lead over Max Verstappen.

31/72 – Carlos Sainz, who was in 2nd place, stops in the pits and comes out just behind Sergio Pérez. Esteban Ocon he also goes to the pits and comes out second to last.

30/72 – It’s Sergio Pérez’s turn to stop, a long stop of 4″4 for the Mexican who comes out 9th between the two Aston Martin.

29/72 – The leader of the race stops in turn: Lando Norris covers Max Verstappen's stop and emerges in front of him, with a five-second margin.

28/72 – Passage to the pits for Max Verstappen, who must also cover the strategy of Charles Leclerc and company. He also puts on Hard tires, and comes out in front of the Monegasque.

21/72 – Lando Norris manages to get Max Verstappen out of the DRS zone, the gap has gone above a second. Behind, George Russell is relegated to five seconds behind the leading duo.

19/72 – Max Verstappen does not lose his footing and remains in contact with the McLaren, but the Dutchman is in trouble with his tires.

18/72 – 🆙 AND IT HAPPENS FOR LANDO NORRIS! He regains the lead of this Grand Prix by overtaking Max Verstappen at the first corner!

17/72 – First attack by Lando Norris at the first corner, without success! Max Verstappen remains in the lead, but the Briton appears threatening.

16/72 – Oscar Piastri has lost contact with George Russell, and it is now Charles Leclerc who is on his heels in the DRS zone.

8/72 – 🆙 A position gained for Carlos Sainz, who overtakes his compatriot Fernando Alonso and climbs to 8th place.

7/72 – The gap is stable at the top: 1″5 ahead for Verstappen ahead of Norris. Starting from the pits, Magnussen went into the gravel at the first corner, without gravity.

5/72 – George Russell loses contact with the two leaders and stops in front of Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc, but the Briton resists.

I preferred the 2023 edition, even if Verstappen was finally defeated in his garden by Norris and the regular way!
