La Formula 1 is happening this weekend on a piece of history. It is in fact on the Silverstone circuit that the discipline saw the light of day in May 1950, 70 years ago. Obviously, the route has been modified over the decades, but the challenge posed by the British enclosure makes it one of the major events on the calendar.
Over 5,891 km, the single-seaters must tackle challenging sections such as the Maggotts-Becketts-Chapel sequence, but also the rapid Copse and Stowe curves. The teams cannot hide as the circuit highlights the qualities and faults of each car.
The Mercedes enter this session as favorites, thanks to their pace displayed in Free Practice 3 this Saturday morning. Watch out as always for the usual burst of brilliance from a Max Verstappen (Red Bull), or even, more surprisingly, from a Racing Point this year.
