The Sochi Autodrome is one of the longest circuits on the racing calendar. Formula 1. With 5,848 km, the route located on the shores of the Black Sea offers 19 turns and as many opportunities for drivers to make the difference during the qualifying session, which will begin at 14 p.m. French time.

Once is not customary, Mercedes are not favorites. During free practice, Lewis Hamilton et Valtteri Bottas were much less lively than the Ferrari and Red Bull de Max Verstappen

Besides, Sochi is not the favorite place of the championship leader. His only pole dates back to 2014, year of the first edition of the Russian event. The Englishman almost came into contact with Alex Albon (Red Bull) on Friday:

 

Conversely, Finnish Valtteri Bottas took pole in 2018 and has never even been beaten by his teammate in five years! 

Charles Leclerc could make an impression again this Saturday afternoon. The Monegasque, could emulate Michael Schumacher by securing a fourth successive pole, a performance that the German is the last to have achieved within the Scuderia between the 2000 and 2001 campaigns.

Red Bull and Toro Rosso will be penalized at the end of the session. Daniil Kvyat is already certain to start from the back of the grid while Max Verstappen, Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly will receive five place penalties for changing Power Unit elements.
