The Red Bulls logically start as favorites after having taken the two pole positions in the first two rounds. Max Verstappen, beaten by Charles Leclerc in 2022, intends to take his revenge this year to win his first pole on Australian soil. Sergio Pérez is aiming for a second consecutive pole after the one obtained in Jeddah.

But the two drivers of the Austrian team could well be surprised by Fernando Alonso, author of the best time during Free Practice 2. The Spaniard, in the form of his life in 2023, had already created a sensation last year after almost winning pole with Alpine. The pilot Aston Martin could also compete with Ferrari, comfortable in qualifying and on the Albert Park track.
