The Austrian Grand Prix, the eleventh event of the championship, already symbolizes the mid-season milestone! And for this weekend in the hills of Styria, a Sprint race format awaits the 20 drivers on the grid, for the second time this year (after Imola). The Spielberg circuit finds the Formula 1 for the 11th consecutive time since his return in 2014 (9 Austrian GP, 2 Styrian GP).

The big favorite of this qualifying session is called Max Verstappen. The pilot Red Bull remains on two poles and two victories at Spielberg during the 2021 season. The Dutchman left on the same basis during Free Practice 1, with the best time of the session.

A three-team battle could take place at the top of the table. If the Ferraris are going to try to grab pole against the Red Bulls, the Mercedes would like to play spoilsport. In the first practice session, George Russell (3rd) and Lewis Hamilton (5th) demonstrated the potential of the Silver Arrows on the Austrian circuit. On the side of the Team, Carlos Sainz wants to ride the momentum of his victory at Silverstone, while a revenge Charles Leclerc will want to seek a 7th pole this season.
