It's been so long since we last saw a Sebastian Vettel as efficient during a Grand Prix of Formula 1. The German driver took the second step of the podium in Baku. His best result since Turkey last year.

Vettel also believes that the key to the race was the degradation of the tires: “We were very good with tire degradation, we were able to make them last longer, which was super important here. And of course our race pace was great today. This will help us a lot for the future but the key to this race was clearly the tyres.”

Frustrated yesterday not to have been able to fight for Q3, the fault of the red flag of Ricciardo at the end of Q2, Vettel puts things into perspective today, admitting that starting 11th was an advantage in the race: “Yesterday I was disappointed but strategically, it's always an advantage to start 11th because you can choose your tires. Today I had new tires left and that was useful during the last laps.”

Sebastien Vettel was even voted driver of the day for the second time in a row by the fans after Monaco. This is something to bring a smile back to the stable Aston Martin, after the terrible crash of Lance stroll at the halfway mark. The Canadian pilot in fact lost his car in the middle of a straight line due to a puncture at the left rear. This afternoon's podium is the first in Formula 1 for Aston Martin.
