Sutil: “I proved you can double”

Adrian Sutil finally gets a good result in Monaco after four Grands Prix without a single point. After starting from eighth position on the grid, the Force India driver managed to stay at the front despite numerous race interruptions. The German held his own during the last restart which followed the red flag following Pastor Maldonado's crash, overtaking Jenson Button in quick succession and Fernando Alonso at the Grand Hôtel hairpin. The resident of Vijay Mallya's stable thus achieved his best result of the season with a fifth place.

“This fifth place is fantastic.”, rejoices Adrian Sutil who achieves his best result in the Principality. “It was just the result we needed and I’m really, really happy. There car was very competitive and we took advantage of every opportunity that presented itself to us. It was difficult to progress in the first part of the race as I was blocked by the train of cars in front of me, but the red flag offered some great opportunities. All the drivers found themselves following the same strategy until the end of the race. I had noted that the hairpin was a sector where I had a chance of overtaking. I tried it on Jenson and it worked. Then I did the same thing on Fernando and it worked again. I proved that we could overtake in Monaco. The team did a superb job and we deserved this result. »
