Suzuka: Alonso trapped in Q2

Fernando Alonso, after his third place in Singapore, hoped to continue at Suzuka. But the Spaniard has a very complicated mission since he achieved the twelfth time in qualifying. “ I'm disappointed not to make it into Q3, but the yellow flag was displayed during my flying lap. » Thus, the double world champion was unable to improve his time and failed at the gates of the “final” of the qualifying session.

Despite his failure to advance to Q3, Fernando Alonso had to justify his times following the session. “ The race marshals asked to see me because they saw that I had done a fast sector under the yellow flag. I then explained that at the exit of turn 14, the track was filled with dust and my visibility was very reduced. This dust was created by the exit from the track of Buemi. Then I saw the wing on the track which I immediately avoided. It was at that moment that I saw the yellow flag and I immediately slowed down, and I returned to the pit very slowly. »

However, several drivers set the best lap in Q2 under the yellow flag and the Spaniard hopes, due to penalties, to grab a few places on the starting grid. The future pilot Ferrari could start in a better position to finish in the Top 8, to fulfill its objective. “ I hope we will be able to improve our position a little and score points. »
