Suzuka returns for five years!

It’s signed! Suzuka will continue to host the Japanese Grand Prix at least until 2018. The very technical and fast Japanese circuit saw its contract with the Formula 1 extended for five years this Friday. The agreement was finalized from Spa, between Masaro Unno, the promoter of the race, and Bernie Ecclestone, the big moneyman of the discipline.

“We did not expect any other result from these negotiations”, assured the organizer of the event, interviewed by Speed Week. However, it is still a very good thing to actually see Bernie's signature (Ecclestone, Editor’s note)on paper.”

Built in 1962, Suzuka hosted Formula 1 for the first time in 1987. In 28 editions, the Japanese Grand Prix was run 24 times on this very popular track. The rest of the time was on the Fuji route, in 1976, 1977, 2007 and 2008.
