Szafnauer: “We still have more under our feet”

Sergio Pérez and Lance stroll achieved the fifth and eleventh times in free practice 2 on Friday. A poor performance at the level of Racing Point displayed this season and especially that expected on the very fast Spa circuit.

The pink cars were notably beaten by the two Red Bull and Renault de Ricciardo. Nothing to worry about Otmar Szafnauer, the general director of Racing Point.

“Checo finished fifth in FP2 but was unable to extract maximum performance from the car during his fast lap. His last sector could have been better. »

Lance Stroll, for his part, missed his turn with qualifying tires. “ He braked too late into the chicane and lost time, something like half a second. »

The rest of the weekend should be better. “ We still have some underfoot. The pace in long stints was very promising. We are probably the 3rd, or even 2nd, force on the board in this area. We still have some left in our stomachs for one lap. As I said, we didn't manage to complete a clean lap. »

Otmar Szafnauer is optimistic:  “We will make some adjustments to the settings to improve that. We have always been fast on this circuit. We should be able to tune the car to go fast on a lap as well.”

We expect Racing Point to battle with Red Bull for the second row.
