Tavares: “Four teams is perfect”

Last July, Carlos Tavares was promoted to General Manager of Renault. Passionate about motor racing, he takes the wheel himself when time permits. But it is for business that he travels to the Grands Prix. If the diamond firm no longer has, since this year, its own stable Formula 1, it nonetheless remains more involved than ever as an engine manufacturer. Carlos Tavares explains this choice.

In 2012, Team Lotus (which could take the name Catheram) and Williams, will join Lotus Renault GP and Red Bull, and will bring to four the number of teams whose single-seaters are equipped with the tricolor V8. In 2013, will the French manufacturer supply more teams? “Four teams is perfect, underlines Carlos Tavares. Five ? Why not ? But not beyond”.
