Team Lotus maintains its optimism

One gives up, Heikki Kovalainen. The other finished 15th, Jarno Trulli. For a team whose goal this year is to fight in the middle of the pack, the result is far from satisfactory. However, Team Lotus wants to continue to believe in it and is now focusing on the improvements to be made in Malaysia, an almost home race for Tony Fernandes' troops.

Reliability was lacking in Heikki Kovalainen. The Finn unfortunately does not see the finish. “I was very happy with my performance until I retired. I had a good start and stayed with Alguersuari and Perez until the hydraulic leak wiped out my race. It was a difficult weekend for us, perhaps more difficult than we expected, but we have some time now to analyze why the pace was not what we expected. We will try to optimize our performance for our home race in Malaysia. »

For his part, Tony Fernandes, the team director, believes that everything is still possible. The situation would not be catastrophic, it would even be rather encouraging. “The main thing for me today is that the pace we showed this winter is still there. We were able to keep up with the mid-field teams, which is our goal this season. We have a good base to build on for the coming season. We are all very excited to come home for the next race. »
