F1 test: Paffett shows himself in turn

After Andy Soucek on Tuesday, it was Gary Paffett (McLaren) who set the best time on the second day of testing reserved for young F1 drivers on Wednesday. With a time of 1'18''718, he beat Nico Hülkenberg (Williams). Jules Bianchi (Ferrari) set the 9th fastest time.

F1 test: Paffett shows himself in turn

In front of Robert Kubica who came to discover his new team Renault, Gary Paffett was the fastest on the second day of testing reserved for young drivers on Wednesday. On the Andalusian track, several drivers appeared. Mirko Bortolotti (Toro Rosso), Nico Hulkenberg (Williams), Esteban Gutierrez (BMW Sauber), Ho-Pin Tung (Renault) and Lucas di Grassi (Renault) thus completed their first laps of the week.

The morning, however, saw the drivers who had already ridden the day before take the lead. So, mid-session, Gary Paffett (McLaren) led the leading pack with a lap completed in 1:18:718. The Briton was the only driver below the 1?19?? mark. and was ahead Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) and Paul di Resta (Force India). Once again, the regular driver of the Championship DTM showed great disposition at the wheel of the VJM02.

In the afternoon, light rain appeared, leaving the track wet for a good part of the day. The drivers remained for a long time without managing to improve their times. In the final hour, Nico Hülkenberg finally managed to get closer to Paffett's best lap (1:19:184). Daniel Ricciardo finished just behind in third position ahead of Paul di Resta and Esteban Gutierrez. Jules Bianchi, for his second day at the wheel of the Ferrari F60, was the hardest on the track completing 113 laps, the fastest in 1'20"585. the Frenchman set about testing the car in 2010 configuration with a full tank of gas.

On Thursday, the drivers will take part in the last of three days of testing planned on the Spanish track. Jules Bianchi will give way to a trio made up of Daniel Zampieri, Marco Zipoli and Pablo Sanchez Lopez while Bertrand Baguette will take the wheel again in the BMW Sauber team after driving for Renault on Tuesday.
