TF1 believes in Formula 1

TF1, historic broadcaster of Formula 1 in France, is not thinking of abandoning the discipline, while there are still two years of contract between the channel and FOM (Formula One Management). While Les Echos recently affirmed that TF1 wanted to get rid of expensive sports, starting with F1, the channel denies this.

Present at the Workshop Renault this Wednesday, Noël Carles made a point of clarifying the position of the leading French channel. “ First of all, our contract with the FOM goes well until the end of the 2012 season, and not the end of 2011, as some have said., he explains for AUTOhebdo.fr. TF1 will renegotiate the rights with Bernie Ecclestone in due course. »

Furthermore, the F1 producer on TF1 is not disappointed with this season's audience figures. “ This year was very good since, within 100 viewers, we achieved the same audience as in 000 even though this year was marked by the Football World Cup and a major Tour de France! »

However, the breathtaking suspense of this 2010 season, which saw five drivers compete for the world title, could have given hope for better audiences. There is no doubt that the return of a French driver to Formula 1 would help strengthen these figures.
