TF1 has published a press release in which it confirms that it will resume broadcasting the Grands Prix of F1 from 2018. The agreement signed with the FOM covers the next three seasons.
Next year, the public channel will broadcast “in clear and in full” four races of the World Championship including the Monaco GP and the French GP which is returning to the Paul-Ricard circuit (Var). The channel will have the choice for the two races it wishes to broadcast.
Coverage of F1 will be provided by the Group's various channels and will include the Automoto and Rendez-vous Sport broadcasts as well as the TF1 and LCI news programs.
“This agreement celebrates the return of Formula 1 in free-to-air broadcast on TF1, a historic partner of the discipline, and is part of our strategy for leading international sporting events., comments Gilles Pelisson, CEO of the TF1 Group. The entire Group will mobilize to provide Formula 1 with the most significant exposure. We will also be very happy to offer the French Grand Prix to our viewers, at a time when our country will once again host a grand prix on the legendary Castellet circuit. »
Canal+ holds the rights to F1 until the 2020 season.
