Todt: FIA powerless over revenue sharing

If the FIA influences the regulations of the F1, it cannot in any way take care of the sharing of commercial income between the teams directed by the FOM. This is what Jean Todt, the president of the FIA, regrets, who is witnessing the discontent of structures in difficulty without being able to act.

“There’s nothing the FIA can do about this. This concerns teams, manufacturers and owners of commercial rights”, recalled the former director of the Team Ferrari, cited by Sky Sports. “If you give the biggest sums to the richest and the poorest get the least money, what happens? But I have no say in this matter. It's not in our hands. We need to find rules that do not penalize those who have less money than others. »

Jean Todt observed with interest the complaint filed by Force India and Sauber F1 Team with the European Commission. “I feel very relaxed because I know that this can only work to the advantage of the FIA”, added the FIA president.

The F1 Strategy Group and the F1 Commission studied in January 2016 an agreement to make Power Units less expensive for customer teams.
