Tony Fernandes proud of Lotus

If many teams fear the slowness of the new cars, Tony Fernandes is more than happy to see his team, Lotus Racing, ready to take part in its first Grand Prix of Formula 1.

« I think we have already achieved more than anyone could have hoped for », Says Tony Fernandes, boss of Air Asia and Lotus Racing. During the official launch of the T127, he notably expressed his great satisfaction at seeing the car developed, just five months after the entry into F1 granted by the FIA.

And Tony Fernandes, before his team competes in its first Grand Prix, is optimistic! “ I firmly believe that if we continue to progress at such a pace, we will be world champions one day, without a doubt. »

Even if the car is making its debut in the World Championship and the team will have to work hard to close the gap on the existing teams, Tony Fernandes is not changing his tune. “ We are not here to be second, we are here to win. » But, however, he knows that everything will not be simple. “ We have to be realistic, we will not win next year. »

The Lotus Racing project therefore takes place over several years. Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen, drivers of the T127, will have to wait before being able to distinguish themselves at the wheel of their car.
