Toro Rosso confirms Buemi and Alguersuari

Sébastien Buemi, who is playing his second season this year with Toro Rosso, will be able to continue to improve its experience capital by Formula 1. From the training sector of the energy drink brand – the Red Bull Junior Team -, the Swiss driver was nevertheless coveted, notably by Renault. But, with the aim of eventually joining the Red Bull team, the young Swiss will be able to continue his development at Red Bull.

Younger, Jaime Alguersuari will also have this chance. Arrived in F1 at the age of 19 last year, replacing Sébastien Bourdais, the young Spaniard delivered solid performances at the start of the season. His self-sacrifice paid off as he too was offered the opportunity to continue within Red Bull's sister team.

« Our two drivers are well prepared for 2011, which explains why they are both confirmed for next season, confides Franz Tost, team manager of Toro Rosso. This makes perfect sense as one of Toro Rosso's aims is to bring young drivers into the Red Bull Young Driver Program and, at 21 and 20 respectively, Seb and Jaime still meet the criteria. »

But Tost knows that his drivers still need a little baggage compared to the experienced F1 drivers but hopes for improvement. “ They do not have the experience of F1 compared to a majority of their colleagues. So, as they accumulate track time, I expect progress during the second half of the season. Their understanding and technical feedback is improving, which is vital if you want the most out of their package. »
