Toro Rosso focuses on reliability

The pair Max Verstappen ? Carlos Sainz Jr made its first outing on the track during the first winter tests at Jerez in Spain this week. After some initial problems, completing only 46 laps on the first day, the STR10 picked up the pace, accumulating nearly 1563 km at the end of the Andalusian tests. A reliability which was at the center of the concerns of the technical team of Faenza.

“We managed to accumulate very high mileage over the last two days. This is useful, because it means that our two pilots managed to complete a complete program, says Technical Director James Key. Our goal was focused on reliability. We haven't worked on performance yet and we won't until the end of the month, so we're not focusing on our lap times at the moment. The important topics are reliability, regularity and the work of the driver, to adapt the car to their needs and give them as much preparation time as possible. »

Toro Rosso seems to have been spared major mechanical problems, unlike Red Bull, which experienced some problems with its RB11 and the V6 turbo / hybrid RenaultIncluding a recalcitrant ERS yesterday.

The STR10 will return to the track as soon as next February 19 for the second session of winter testing which will take place in Catalonia on the Barcelona track.
