Toro Rosso returns to the spotlight

The smile has returned to the clan of Faenza in the Singapore night. After a lackluster Italian Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz taking only 15th place, the single-seaters from Franz Tost's team made their return to the forefront yesterday in qualifying on the Marina Bay Circuit.

so Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat managed to advance to Q3 to finally finish in 6th and 7th positions, in particular in front of McLaren-Honda, the two teams are battling it out in the Manufacturers' Championship with a three-point gap to Woking's advantage before this weekend's Grand Prix.

A result which, according to Carlos Sainz, constitutes a return to normal for Toro Rosso. “It’s a very positive day and I would say this is one of my best qualifying sessions of my career, admits the son of the double world rally champion. I think we can be very satisfied with this session.

After a few difficult races, it was time to get back to where I think we need to be and fight for the top six places. Being half a second ahead of the Force India is something we can be proud of. This is a huge boost for the team and we know we have the pace for a good race, so we can be confident! »

However, it is this Sunday that the STR11 will also have to make a reality, after three Grands Prix without points scored, a first this season. « The Grand Prix will be very long, and anything can happen, but we just have to stay focused, be patient and take any chance that comes our way, Kvyat points out. We are in a good position and now we just need to make the most of what we achieved in qualifying. »
