Toro Rosso: Tost explains

After a promising start to the season which saw its two drivers finish in the points in Australia, the team Toro Rosso had difficulty actually confirming it afterwards. If Sébastian's departure Hag in Red Bull at the end of last season partly explains this performance deficit, it is clear that Sébastien Bourdais failed to take over from the German prodigy. Worse, with only two points on the clock in nine starts, he is overtaken by his teammate Sébastien Buemi, starting at the highest level.

Franz Tost, the team director, looked back on this first half of the season to try to explain this lack of results. “ There are several reasons to explain this », he comments. “ First, the other teams improved their cars by regularly adding new features. We have introduced small changes but nothing very significant. For what ? It?s a financial decision. We have chosen to contain the costs within our budget and prepare an important new package which will be introduced in Hungary”, he explained.

« Secondly, we also have one of our pilots who did not really meet our expectations », he continued, referring to Sébastien Bourdais who was fired after the German Grand Prix. For the rest of the season, Franz Tost hopes that his team will be able to demonstrate another level of performance. “ We hope that our technical improvements will allow us to regain a level of competitiveness that we had during the second part of the season last year. He concluded.
