Toro Rosso: dream weekend for Ricciardo, to forget for Vergne

One is happy, the other wants to move on quickly. Daniel Ricciardo was the author of a remarkable performance this weekend in China, taking seventh position during qualifying and maintaining his position until the end of the race. Conversely, Jean-Eric Vergne had a very complicated stay in Shanghai: qualified 16th, he could not do better than twelfth place on Sunday, after being hit by Mark Webber.

“I am very happy to have scored my first points of the season and to have confirmed my qualifying performance”, expresses Daniel Ricciardo. “ Saturday afternoon I remained calm, knowing that the real work will begin today. The last time I qualified this well, I was sixth in Bahrain last year and I failed to score any points. So today I really wanted to show people what I could do, it?s good for me to have had a good race, but it?s particularly good for the team, who worked hard for it?. Forced to change his front wing, the Australian even thought he could go further: “At the end Massa’s car was getting bigger and bigger in front of me! So yes, maybe I could have done better, but now I'm going to settle for this seventh place. This weekend, it's as if everything came together well, after two first races with ups and downs. Now I hope we will continue to get stronger and stronger?, optimizes the Australian.

For his part, Jean-Eric Vergne returned to his clash with Mark Webber. “I think Mark couldn't pass where he tried, and I'm not even sure he was trying to pass me.”, explains, dubiously, the Frenchman. “What’s certain is that I didn’t even know he was there”. After this incident, the driver's race Toro Rosso turned out to be even more complicated. “I lost time and had to drive a damaged car, I lost a lot of downforce”, relates JEV. ?It wasn?t a good weekend, from the start it wasn?t easy. However, the race pace has improved since Malaysia, as we could see with what Daniel was able to do today. So I am now leaning towards Bahrain with optimism”, finishes Jean-Eric Vergne.
