Tost: “Hartley has been a key player at Toro Rosso”

Brendon Hartley was thanked by Toro Rosso two days after confirmation ofAlexander albon alongside Daniil Kvyat for the 2019 season. The New Zealander was not entitled to the slightest thank you in the press release from the Faenza team which corrected its error.

“We would like to thank Brendon for his hard work, commented Franz Tost, Team Principal of Toro Rosso. It was not an easy task to go from closed car racing to the F1, especially in such a short time. His consistency over the last 4 races of 2017 allowed him to secure a seat for 2018.”

“Even though we weren't able to keep him in 2019, he was a key part of the team and contributed to the development of Honda's Power Unit. We wish him the best for the future”, added Franz Tost.

Brendon Hartley was called up in 2017 by Toro Rosso to replace Daniil Kvyat. After a full season where the double winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans has only reached the Top 10 three times, he finds himself without a program for next year.
