Tost would like to keep his drivers in 2017

Si Max Verstappen is of great interest to the leaders of Red Bull Racing, Director of Toro Rosso would like to keep its two drivers in 2017 given the performances achieved. Dr. Helmut Marko, head of the young driver sector, has made no secret of his desire to bring the Dutchman into the first Red Bull team.

“Our pilots are of great value to us”, recognized Franz Tost in an interview with Algemeen Dagblad. “We are more than happy with Max and Carlos (Sainz Jr). It’s also a very good thing to see them fairly consistent in the way they work and adjust the car because it makes life easier for the engineers. »

Max Verstappen still makes the difference against his teammate. The youngest of the set F1 occupies ninth place in the standings with 13 points on the clock, while Carlos Sainz Jr is 12th with four points before the Russian Grand Prix on May 1.

“Max is doing very well but so is Carlos.”, underlined the Toro Rosso Team Principal. “However, Max is in a special situation. He is the youngest driver in the history of F1 and he has great attention. I hope Carlos will have less bad luck this year compared to the previous season because the gap is small between the two. »

Max Verstappen will start from ninth position in Sochi while Carlos Sainz Jr will start from 11th place.
