Toto Wolff: Red Bull would be an “interesting option”

The situation remains complicated between Red Bull et Renault, the two structures having celebrated their first podium of the season than at the Hungarian GP in Budapest on July 26. While the Losange plans to take over a team to have better visibility, the Taureau Rouge could turn to another engine manufacturer at the end of its contract in 2016.

If the divorce between the two parties was complete, Mercedes could consider offering itself as Red Bull's new engine supplier. “There is an agreement in place and we do not want to interfere between the two parties, but as I am the head of Mercedes Motorsport, I must recognize that it is an interesting option because it would tie us to a brand who wins and who enjoys a good reputation among young people », told Toto wolff, the director of Mercedes Motorsport, in an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Toto Wolff, however, recognized that this choice could pose a problem for the Mercedes team. “As a team leader, I am aware that it is not ideal to help an opponent who knows how to build winning cars”, said the Austrian businessman.
