Toto Wolff: an important double for Mercedes

Toto wolff enjoyed the double of Mercedes F1 at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Silver Arrows were lacking success at the Hungaroring after Daniel Ricciardo et Sebastian Vettel have won the last two editions. Lewis Hamilton won this time in front of Nico Rosberg, while the driver Red Bull completed the podium almost half a minute late.

“This double is very satisfying on a circuit which has not been successful for us over the last two years, confirms the executive director of Mercedes F1. This was Red Bull territory and Ferrari. It highlights the qualities of the engine and chassis package to have been able to achieve such a result and control the race as we did. »

“It was an event that required a lot of management, underlines the Austrian. We told the drivers all weekend that victory would depend on conserving the tires and they did very well. »

Toto Wolff now sees the duel between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg intensifying, the three-time world champion having taken the lead in the Championship with six points ahead of his teammate.

“There has been a lot of discussion about the situation at the Championship. If it was a football match, we would have only completed one half. There is still a long way to go before the end of the season. We've had a lot of action so far and I'm sure there will be more.", adds the executive director of the team.
