Toyota wants to acquire Räikkönen

Without a steering wheel since his ouster from the Team Ferrari for the benefit of Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen has several serious leads for next season. If the one leading to McLaren reste d?actualité, une autre équipe a approché le pilote finlandais. L?équipe Toyota a en effet fait une offre au Champion du Monde 2007 que ce dernier juge insuffisante.

« We don't play a double game », Says John Howett, the president of Toyota, to the Reuters agency. “ We have put on the table what we can afford and we believe that this is a serious offer in the current context. I honestly think we could work well with him and give him a car fast. »

After seeing Robert Kubica go to Renault, the Cologne team is looking to change its driver duo even if discussions have not completely broken off with Timo Glock and Jarno Trulli. “ We made an offer to Jarno but I think he is not unhappy with the financial aspect. However, there are certain points in the contract that we cannot negotiate on our side. », Adds Howett. “ He could be in the car next season but it hasn't been decided at all. With our two drivers, however, we maintain a certain degree of discussion. »
