For his national Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly would have liked to have had a better outcome. Eliminated in Q1 the day before in qualifying, the Norman was condemned to a feat this Sunday if he did not want to leave Castellet empty-handed. It missed.

In ambush in the middle of the pack and with the points in his sights, the pilot Alpha Tauri believed he would finish in the Top 10 but a mistake mid-race compromised the rest of his Grand Prix. So well placed in Alex's exhausts Albon and the fight for the 11e instead, Pierre Gasly missed his maneuver and was forced to take the escape route, thus losing 4 places in history. If he was able to come back in the last laps, the Rouennais was satisfied with 12e place on the finish line.

« I am very disappointed, he regretted while he was hopeful after the improvements brought by AlphaTauri and the good start to the weekend. This is not at all the result we wanted. I'm not going to lie, we were too slow. I can't understand how we were so fast on Friday before losing everything on Saturday. Today (Sunday) I tried everything, whether it was overtaking maneuvers at the North chicane or something else, but in the end we were just too slow. We lacked rhythm. I fought...

In terms of feel, I was losing the front end and sliding in slow and fast corners, in addition to traction issues. We have to analyze everything to try to find solutions for the next races and be more efficient."

If his AT03 took a step forward in terms of performance before experiencing a drop in speed on Saturday, Pierre Gasly wants to be optimistic for the future. What can we hope for a better weekend in Hungary next week?

« I want to say yes, to be a little positive after this day, he retorts. At the moment, I don't know where we really stand. Today wasn't great but I want to believe that the Hungaroring will suit us. » Hoping this turns out to be true…
