That's it, Aston Martin finally launched its season. At the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, the Silverstone team scored its first points with 8th place Sebastian Vettel and the 10th of Lance stroll. An encouraging return to the top 10 for the Silverstone team, which remained the only one not to have opened its counter before the start of the weekend. So obviously, this result is a relief for Team Principal Mike Krack, who arrived this winter to compensate for the departure of Otmar Szafnauer at Alpine.

“I think we took a first step today with small improvements and we will continue to look forward to make even more”, explained the Luxembourg engineer at the finish of the Grand Prix on Sunday. Despite this result, he remains aware of the work remaining to make the AMR 22 a competitive car. “We have three priority areas that we are currently working on, firstly aerodynamics, which is the most important point, secondly, the weight of the car which is also essential and the last point is to understand how we can provide the best feedback to our pilots. »

Bringing the best feelings to pilots

In Italy, Sebastian Vettel, who was competing in his second Grand Prix of the season, and Lance Stroll finally seemed able to aim for the points. A performance that was not possible with the car at the start of the season, which was complicated to drive for both drivers. “This is one of the reasons which explains why we have had so many incidents on several routes. For example in Melbourne, when our drivers went out so much, it wasn't normal, drivers of this quality don't go out as much. » Krack clearly took responsibility for these off-track events for himself and for Aston Martin.

The work of Mike Krack and his entire team is clear, “We must try to give our drivers the best feeling with the car to allow them to extract its full potential. » With this result, Aston Martin now occupies 9th place in the Manufacturers' championship with 5 points and hopes to continue this momentum at the Miami Grand Prix from May 6 to 8.
