Three questions for Jarno Trulli

The Japanese team, which has been involved in the discipline since 2002, shone during winter testing this year, with Trulli even claiming that the TF109 is the best Toyota that he had never flown.

What are your impressions before the first race next Sunday in Melbourne?

“I am confident for this season because the tests have gone very well so far. I believe the car is going to be very competitive and so far everything looks good. This car looks better than any other Toyota I've driven in pre-season, so I'm full of hope,” Jarno Trulli told the Toyota official website. Formula 1.

Should we understand that Toyota's ambitions have been revised upwards for 2009?

“It's not my place to comment on this, but it's obvious that Toyota is in Formula 1 to win. I really hope we can achieve big things this year and so far everything has gone very well in testing. We are definitely optimistic. We try to improve our performance year after year and I believe we are a good team, which has improved a lot over the seasons. After solid results last year, our objective is obviously to build on our good performances in 2008 by scoring good points as often as possible. »

Do you really think you can achieve this goal?

“We took a big step forward last season, proving that we can challenge for podiums and finish consistently in the Top 6. So I hope we take another step forward this year. We have more experience now and the team has really been working hard for a long time on the TF109. For my part I want to fight, I feel that we can achieve great things this year and I am only waiting for one thing, which is to be able to show it. We are ready for the season and I am ready to race. »

It's been a long time since we've seen such an optimistic Jarno Trulli... The Italian made his F1 debut in Melbourne in 1997. His best result was 5th place in 2003 with Renault. He also qualified on the front row with Toyota in 2005.
